HINDHEAD CELEBRITY RECITAL SERIES
The Hindhead Music Centre is blessed with an intimate concert hall and one of the finest pianos in the south of England. The combination of these elements has provided a long history of concerts by such celebrated artists as Peter Katin, Stephen Isserlis, Dame Emma Kirkby, Peter Donohoe, Jack Brymer, Marisa Robles, Tommy Reilly and the Coull Quartet, to mention but a few. The beautiful setting has a further historical significance in that regular visitors to the house in the past have included Lord Tennyson, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Sir Charles Darwin!
The 2009/10 season will be marked by two important events - a unique opportunity to hear the complete piano works of Chopin and a chronologically presented cycle of Schubert's piano sonatas. All concerts will be held on Sunday afternoons at 4.00 pm.
MARTINO TIRIMO - Chopin cycle
Martino Tirimo is recognised as one of the world's finest pianists, renowned for his performances and recordings of the complete piano music of Schubert, Debussy, Mozart and Beethoven. He will be presenting the complete piano music of Chopin in a series of eight piano recitals. Each recital will mix genres so as to provide a satisfying programme.
JAMES LISNEY - Schubert Sonatas
James Lisney is well known to Hindhead audiences as he has acted as our Artistic Director for nearly twenty years. This autumn he will be making important solo debuts at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and the Carnegie Hall in New York, and he has previously presented Beethoven and Schubert cycles at many important venues, including London's South Bank Centre, the Berlin Philharmonic and the Leipzig Gewandhaus. His Schubert cycle will take six concerts and will be presented chronologically.
